Sankofa Camping Club of Michigan,organized in 1997 by a group of Recreational Vehicle owners interested in sharing the camping/RV lifestyle, is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Sankofa is the 4th Chartered Chapter, (1998) of the National African American RV Association, also known as NAARVA. NAARVA was organized in 1993. Sankofa members camp together two weekends per year at designated RV resorts or Campgrounds in Michigan and Ohio. The club also travels to the annual NAARVA Northern Regional Camp-out rallies througout the State of Michigan and to the annual NAARVA National Camp-out rallies throughout the USA.
